Christmas "Comfort and Joy" sign made from recycled Door Parts

Good Morning my Beauties!
I am slowly but surely starting to get to work on some of my Christmas Crafts.
I know I am already BEHIND Bloggy wise but Personally, I am way ahead of the game..:)

I keep lots of SCRAP CRAP in my shed and this was one of those pieces.
I had found a door in a dumpster last winter and I had been saving it, but
I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with it.
My hubby, being the patient man that he is waited a year for me to decide and then
to compromise; he cut it into pieces and let me keep certain parts and pieces.
2 of the pieces were part of the bottom panel. They have these rectangular inserts
in those old wood doors. When he cut it they fell out.
Well you know me...."SAVE IT" ...so it went in my SCRAP CRAP pile up in my shed.

I used my silhouette..(which I am learning to LOVE, but it takes time and patience..)
to cut out the words COMFORT and JOY.

I used my CeCe Caldwells Traverse City Cherry and stenciled it on the panel.
I then edged around the whole piece with the red.
When it was dry I distressed it and waxed it.

I am LOVIN it! I plan on making lots more Christmas signs for my booth.
I just gotta find the time..LOL!

I hope you enjoyed this quick little tutorial.
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

I happen to have an old cabinet door, a sample pot of Caldwell cherry, and my Silhouette is on it's way. You say time and patience with the Silhouette, tips or pointers?

When I see this sign that made from recycled door pants. I feel now the spirit of Christmas and I can wait to receive a gift from my godparent.

Don't you love using the old door parts? The sign is a beauty with an inspirational message - especially after the storms in the Northeast.

This sign is fabulous! I've made lots of signs using cabinet doors. I'm hoping to upgrade from my Cricut to a Silhouette soon so that I can have more creative freedom like this! Did you make the design yourself or did you get it from a site?

Love this!! So you used the silhouette to make a stencil? So you just pick the letters out? I have only used it to add letters to things, but I love this.

Thanx for linking up to Home for the Holidays 2012 Karin. Your sign turned out great. I have TONS of doors for signs and a Silhouette just have to carve out some time to squeeze it all in. I've found contact paper from the $1 store works great through the machine. Sometimes you have to shave off a few inches to make it fit but it's pretty good quality since you throw it away anyhow.
